I’m Sonia Palmer, a trauma-focused therapist specializing in EMDR and integrative approaches to anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation.

I am licensed in California (LMFT #158503) and have extensive trainings in EMDR, DBT, IFS and EFT Therapy.

About

Approach

Two mustard yellow armchairs face each other with a potted monstera plant in between. There are two tall lamps on either side and a white cabinet on the left. The background is a white curtain and the floor is light-colored wood with a white rug.

My work integrates EMDR with DBT- and IFS-informed approaches, with an emphasis on safety, pacing, and long-term change. Therapy is tailored to each individual, with a focus on helping you process underlying experiences while building greater stability and clarity.

A cozy living room corner with a white sofa, a rust-colored blanket, a knot-shaped cushion, a wooden side table with a lamp, a large window with sheer curtains, a potted plant on a wooden table, and a stack of magazines on the table.
Interior office door with a sign that says 'iv Session please Do Not Disturb', door handle, keyhole, and a blurred background of a desk with a plant and window.

Experience

My clinical experience includes work with trauma and PTSD, men’s mental health, personality patterns, and individuals impacted by domestic violence. I am a multilingual and culturally responsive therapist, with extensive experience working with the Hispanic community and individuals involved in court and probation systems.

Therapy is not about pushing through or forcing change. It’s about creating the conditions for meaningful, lasting shifts to occur at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.
